St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana is seeking a Director of Human Resources to serve as an integral member of the dynamic management team by providing a wide spectrum of human resource support and leadership. Supports management and employees to meet their human capital needs. Administers and manages the Human Resources function which includes workforce planning, recruitment and talent management, organizational development and support, employee relations activities, employee engagement and retention activities, record retention, and regulatory compliance in order to support operating units in the delivery of quality care and patient experience excellence.  Oversees Employee Health including workers compensation, FMLA/LOA, and employee exposures/injuries.  Directs and supervises HR/Employee Health staff.
 
Education/Experience:

  • BS degree in Business, Human Resources or related field. Masters' degree preferred.
  • 10 plus years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources; healthcare experience preferred.
  • Broad knowledge/experience in employment law and unemployment, compensation, benefit administration, organizational planning and development, recruitment, talent management, employee relations, employee engagement and retention activities, employee reward and recognition programs, organizational development and support, workers compensation and FMLA/LOA.
  • Possess exceptional leadership, communication and presentation skills; interpersonal, analytical and management skills necessary. 
  • Demonstrates strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, HRIS (Peoplesoft preferred) application tracking system (ATS) and timecard systems (Kronos preferred).
  • SPHR/PHR preferred.
  • Knowledge state/federal laws and regulatory agencies.
