Primary job responsibility includes a focus on accepting and processing Helping Hands Applications. This would include review of documentation submitted for assistance as well as follow up with patients for missing items/inquires. Following appropriate and timely guidelines for the Helping Hands process. In addition, maintaining follow up on all self-pay accounts as assigned and according to departmental procedures. Works on assigned work queues on a daily basis. Follows up to ensure receipt of TPL information, Medicaid prior authorization and Medicaid numbers/cards for all pending Medicaid accounts. Familiar with different Medicaid Programs and general insurance contract rules. Enters insurance information in the system appropriately and set for billing. Interview and correspond with patients by telephone, mail or in person. Reviews financial documents for our Helping Hand program, set up payment arrangements, collect payments or refer patients to the HELP Loan program. Logs in to the agent telephones and be able to assist caller when call is routed to the phone queue.
To Qualify You Must Have:
  • High School diploma required.
  • Call center, telephone work experience and cash collections experience required.
  • Experience in a hospital/medical business office preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance benefits and coordination of benefits and Indiana Medicaid programs preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices.
  • Excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, public, co-workers, and professional offices.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish required.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of PC applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Must be proficient with a 10 key calculator and perform mathematical calculations,
  • High level problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task while working in a collaborative, team environment with positive attitude.  Detailed oriented.
  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment and work under deadlines.
