  • The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) at Community Hospital is a clinician with advanced academic and clinical preparation who specializes in providing care to acutely ill infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The scope of practice reflects the education and experience of the clinician in accordance with local, state and federal requirements
     
    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
    •         Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) must have successfully completed an accredited program for Neonatal Nurse Practitioners with a minimum of a Master's degree.
    •         The NNP must have current certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner through a recognized credentialing body. 
    •         The NNP must possess current professional licensure by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau.
    •         Documentation of prescriptive authority granted by the State of Indiana and a valid controlled substance certificate (DEA Number) must be on file in the Community Hospital Medical Staff Services Department prior to the ordering of medications.  
    •         Documentation of completion of an advanced physical assessment class. 
    •         Obtains and maintains BLS and NRP certification.
    •         STABLE certification preferred. Experience with neonatal transports and discharge planning preferred
    •         Maintains professional growth and development through continuing education programs, seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations, including self studies to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise.  Constantly seeking new information.
