  • Position Purpose and Summary 
    Participates in the development and implementation of the Hospital's Quality, Risk Reduction and Performance improvement and Infection Control Program. Identifies the need for and conducts performance improvement studies. Prepares and presents related data and reports to medical staff clinical, departments and services. Keeps current with Centers of Medicare and Medicaid and other performance improvement agency standards. Under general supervision and according to established hospital and professional policies and procedures performs activities related to the identification, prevention and control of infections and potential infections. Performs regular surveillance for patient and associate infections. Prepared and present infection control educational programs. Participates in the development and reviews each hospital departments infection control policies, and serves as a consultant to hospital personnel and departments on infection control. Serves as a liaison to outside agencies concerned with infection control. Works closely with Director of Quality and Risk Management to prepare reports for Administration and Board of Directors.
    Education and Experience
    • Professional level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through a BSN.
    • One to two years of clinical experience in order to acquire a through knowledge of the nature of infectious disease processes and to become familiar with hospital policies, procedures and standards.
    • Specific skills required for the position include, Microsoft Office, Midas and other system-wide computer data-based software applications, presentation skills to assist in on-line case review during medical Staff Peer Review activities and written communication skills to be able to communicate the peer review committee's interventions.
    • Employee traits important to this position would be that of a self-starter and a people-oriented person.
