The Staff RN is responsible for implementing, directing, communicating and documenting the nursing process and provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and associates. The nurse practices in accordance with current established standards of care, the Nurse Practice Act, the Community Healthcare System policies and procedures, and supports the mission and philosophy of CHS.
Scope of Care: 
Most common types of conditions/diagnosis of infants admitted to the NICU include:  Prematurity, Intrauterine Growth Retardation (IUGR), Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), Meconium Aspiration (MAS), Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn (TTNB), Infant of Diabetic Mother (IDM), Hyperbilirubinemia, hematologic disorders, congenital anomalies, cleft lip and palate with feeding problems, cardiac anomalies/disorders (infants with major cardiac problems are transferred to a Level III NICU via a competent transport team), Tracheal Esophageal Fistula (TEF), Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), GI obstruction, gastroschisis, omphalocele (major surgical cases are transferred to a Level III NICU via a competent transport team), pyloric stenosis, hypoglycemia, feeding problems, sepsis, seizures, apnea/bradycardia, Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn (PPHN), Intraventricular Hemorrhage (IVH), infants requiring iNO(inhaled nitric oxide), Palliative care (comfort measures for extreme prematurity or any condition incompatible with life), Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS)
Education/Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current professional licensure by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau. BSN desirable. Successful completion of The Community Healthcare System's Personnel and Nursing Orientation Programs. Obtains and maintains current certifications as required in specialty areas. Obtains and maintains current CPR certification.
