SIGN-ON INCENTIVE AVAILABLE
The Staff RN is responsible for implementing, directing, communicating and documenting the nursing process and provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and associates. The nurse practices in accordance with current established standards of care, the Nurse Practice Act, the Community Healthcare System policies and procedures, and supports the mission and philosophy of CHS.
Scope of Care:  The Surgical Admission Unit at the Community Hospital provides care to the ambulatory surgery population. The Surgical Admission Unit also admits general direct surgical admissions preoperatively. The Ambulatory Surgical population ranges from infant to geriatric patients. In addition to Ambulatory surgical patients; the department also provides care to non-surgical patients requiring bedside procedures. All non-surgical treatment and procedures are determined by department policy.  Pediatric patients requiring anesthesia for diagnostic testing may also be admitted to the surgical admission unit. These nonsurgical patients may be scheduled late in the day, when there is a lighter census in the department. The Surgical Admission Unit staff also admits endoscopy outpatients and provides pre and post procedure care for them, when the GI census requires this.
Education/Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current professional licensure by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau. BSN desirable. Successful completion of The Community Healthcare System's Personnel and Nursing Orientation Programs. Obtains and maintains current certification (ACLS) as required in specialty areas (Critical Care). Obtains and maintains current CPR certification.
